caffeine addiction ❃ at first sight ❃ chapter 1
Bakugou Katsuki x Reader / Coffee Shop! AU

next chapter ⇨
words: ~2.1k
Tumblr media
It was love at first sight.
Bakugou remembers his first encounter with his first love like it was yesterday. He met her at a local café; it was small but quiet and cozy. The string lights in the small space were what caught his eye at first, meticulously placed to create ambient lighting. It was as if someone took the stars out of the sky and placed them around the café. But that was before he met her.
It’s weird for Bakugou to admit it, but she smelled so good.
Better than anything he’d ever smelled before. He was intoxicated. It was an aroma he’d experienced before, but it was so much more intense here. It was such a sweet smell that was warm and slightly bitter, with notes of roasted beans that carried a subtle hint of caramel. It was earthy and comforting with a touch of sweetness that lingered, wrapping the room in its cozy, familiar embrace. The scent was also both energizing and calming, a blend of warmth and depth that made the café feel even more intimate.
He knew he’d never love another after experiencing his first love.
Though, he was only four years old.
The name of his first love was coffee.
Bakugou had never been to this café before this. He knew either his mom or his dad would always visit this place before a particularly busy day–- especially days before a show. He explicitly noticed the way his dad would have two or three of these empty cups by his desk while sketching out his ideas or spending hours at his sewing table.
He saw the brown stains where the seam of the cup met the lid, and it was unlike anything he’d seen before. Bakugou likened it to how he’d imagine gasoline to look; he’d seen it recently, and it was clear. Highly disappointing. He lost his interest in cars after that fiasco.
It looked different from the milk he’d drink with his breakfast in the morning (for strong bones, his mom would repeat) and from the orange juice he drank with his lunch (for vitamin C, his dad would insist). He didn’t even know what vitamin C was. All he knew was that it was good for you. In what way? He had no clue.
As a kid, when Bakugou first smelled the dark concoction, he was in love. He asked his mom if he could take a sip, seeing this strange black liquid in the paper takeout cups his mom grabbed for herself and his dad.
His mom had agreed, but only let him have a little bit, knowing that it would make him become an even more of the irritating gremlin that he already was; his spiky tufts of blonde hair and red eyes that looked like they were ready to take over the world at his tender age. She didn’t think he’d like it– the brew she ordered was black. No sugar, no cream, nothing. Nothing that a typical kid would enjoy.
But when he took a sip of the coffee after his mother uttered a “Careful, it’s hot,” his eyes lit up like Newton realizing that gravity exists.
The apple that dropped onto the ground became a mild obsession for the four-year-old. The taste was unlike anything he’d ever had! The taste was bitter but acidic, and the smell of it alone was so beautiful–so aromatic, so relaxing.
When he asked his mom for more and she responded, “No, this is an adult drink. it’ll make you bounce off the walls too much,” he pouted for the rest of the day, sitting on the stool next to his dad with his cheeks puffed and tiny little arms crossed in a baby rebellion. His mom furrowed her brows, thinking about how weird it is for a kid to like coffee. When she’d ask her friends about it, they’d be like, “Ha! I let my daughter try some coffee, and her face wrinkled up like when she tried a lemon for the first time!”
But she just excused it to Bakugou being a weird kid. She wasn’t wrong– he was a weird child.
As he grew older, he was allowed to drink more and more coffee. His mom held the ability to drink coffee over his head like a hostage. He’d relent to taking more photos in the cute children’s version of designer clothes just for another tiny sip. However, his parents had to pay the price later when he was bouncing off the walls, ceilings, and every nearby human being.
Thus, he knew he’d be here today. In a café, brewing cups of coffee for random people. In his words, he’d say, “None of these shit cafés do it right. If I don’t do it, all the coffee ‘round here would be shit.” When hearing this answer, his friends laughed in his face and exposed his real reason to open a café. In reality, he put his time and effort into opening a coffee shop because he wanted to see people’s faces light up after taking their first sip of coffee– just like his face did.
-
Bakuou Katsuki had early, early mornings, waking up at 4 am to go to the gym before taking a quick shower and opening up his café on one of the less busy streets in the town. The place always opened up at 6:00 am sharp with his pride depending on it.
Today was a cold November weekday morning, a day like usual. His regulars came in asking for their usual order, but with coats sprinkled with melting snow and with slightly red noses. Rudolph would be proud. This morning, he was the only one working. It wasn’t a problem– not like it’s gonna be too busy, anyway. (It was going to be very busy. Bakugou is just insanely competent.)
He sat at his stool with a black beanie sat atop his head, a black ribbed sweater turtleneck stretched across his chest and muscled arms. He wore this under his café apron along with a pair of well-fitted slacks that spanned across his legs perfectly. The way he looked was a huge selling point in the café. Men and women would come just to flirt with him and grab a cup of coffee. Great for business. He waited for people to start waking up and coming in for a cup-- around 8 AM.
Bakugou scrubbed through the photos of coat designs his dad sent to his family group chat, putting a thumbs-up reaction to the ones that caught his eye. Recently, it seemed like his dad was getting new inspiration from Finding Dory. He wondered how a movie about a confused blue fish inspired his father, but he learned not to question the fashion industry too much as a child. Artists are insane.
Even as he thought this, his father responded to one of his messages in the chat, apparently confused by one of his suggestions as a change to one of the designs. He sighed and grabbed his sketchbook that was placed conveniently under the register along with a pencil and quickly sketched out the changes to the design with a practiced and experienced hand. He took a photo and sent it to the group chat, admiring his drawing before turning his phone off and slipping his sketchbook into its rightful place. He’d drawn it next to multiple other sketches of suggestions he had for his parents, pages and pages filled with sketches of croquis.
Artists are insane, indeed. But Bakugou was one of them, himself.
As soon as the ‘sent!’ notification noise of the sketch photo hit his ears, so did the ring of the door. In walked a woman who looked like she’d been through some shit.
She pushed down her mask, further revealing deep dark circles and teeth that were definitely chattering because of the cold. “Triple shot espresso over ice,” came out her voice, which also sounded like she’d been through it. Bakugou likened it to the grating of a skin's garbage disposal. A thin line of snot slowly dripped down her nose, and she quickly pulled up her mask in embarrassment.
Bakugou’s eyes avoided her face in politeness (and also because it was gross) and thus were drawn to her ears instead. Her earrings were a distinct design from one of Gucci’s lines–one of the more subtle ones. But he noticed it right away, seeing the long thread design with a pearl dropped at the bottom. Her open cream-colored trench coat also looked very familiar, but Bakugou couldn’t place his finger on it. He subtly raked his eyes over the coat to find a logo anywhere. He couldn’t find one. Her turtleneck looked nearly identical to his own.
But why the heck did she buy an espresso over ice if she was already freezing? He did it anyway. He’s seen weirder orders.
He didn’t let his analysis of her and her clothing interrupt his work, however. “Can I get a name for this order?” He asked, unnecessarily. There was nobody else in the café. He asked to satisfy his own curiosity.
She told him, shuffling through her book bag to grab her wallet. Her brows slightly raised in surprise upon hearing the price, and she handed him her credit card. This was when he saw the logo on her coat. Kindeki.
He immediately got to brewing her espresso.
Tumblr media
In the corner of his eye, Bakugou saw you place all of your items on a window-side table. You brushed your fingers through your hair a little before twisting it and securing it into a claw clip. You’d taken off the mask completely, and he fully took in how tired you looked.
You placed your laptop on the table, but took a moment to bury your face in your hands. You took in and let out a deep breath before opening up your laptop to get ready to work.
Bakugou could almost feel your pain from the counter. The espresso was finished after a couple seconds, and he poured the hot liquid over some ice and placed it into a mug for you. He called your name, grabbing your attention. When you went to the counter to grab your coffee, Bakugou felt your hands slightly brush up against his. There was one thought in his mind:  “Her hands are dry as fuck.”
Apart from your put-together outfit, the rest of you was visibly going through the wringer. In his mind, it looked like you drank one too many shots of vodka last night because one of your favorite characters in a TV show died, and you had a test the next day. Your tiredness was palpable. It made him feel like he was tired even though he had a full eight hours of sleep.
He watched you out of the corner of his eye for the next six hours you sat and worked in his café. He watched as you typed up a storm on your laptop, and sighed loudly before reading over your work. It was cute how you tapped your foot on the ground while thinking, lips tucked under your teeth whilst thinking. Or was it annoying? Bakugou couldn’t choose. At least it was in rhythm to the quiet lofi playing in the café.
About midway through your long stay in the café, Bakugou was in the current daily rush. People were coming in fast, and he was the only worker. Somehow, he was still able to give people their coffee in less than five minutes each. He definitely did not time himself and mentally shit on big coffee chains every time he finished working through an entire crowd by himself. And he absolutely did not gloat about his prowess and ability each time. Fuck you, Starbucks.
A couple minutes after the rush hour, as if it were planned (it was– you didn’t want to bother him even more during his rush hour), you went up to the counter to return the mug and ask for a cup of water. At this time, you also looked different. Bakugou’s eyes visibly widened and his eyebrows shot up his forehead.
Your hair was different, and you’d put on makeup that concealed your very dark under eyes. You even had the eyeshadow? highlighter? or something (Bakugou forgot what it was called) in the corner of your eyes. Your hair–did it always have those red streaks? Maybe he was just imagining it. It’s impossible for you to have dyed your hair in his café. Did you put in extensions or something? His mind flooded with questions as his eyes scanned your figure.
He didn’t verbally question it. He just gave you your cup of water and basked in his confusion. Where the fuck did you do your hair? When were you doing your makeup? He’s pretty sure he checked up on you every ten minutes or so, even during rush hour.
This woman’s efficiency is insane. She’s also pretty cute.

This week's updates~
Tumblr media
The chicks are starting to get in their mini adult feathers.
The second hatch out will be ready for the turners to stop on the 21st. And with luck come 24th-27th we'll be seeing a few more chicks. I set the incubator with a majority of green and blue eggs, since I really like the blue shells :)
Tumblr media
A bit of growth on the wild seeded area
This area is planted with
Swiss chard, black sunflower seeds, dragon tail radish (the pods are edible, not the root/tuber), green okra, 2 types of pumpkins, Kentucky wonder bean, kale, shin wa peppers, watermelon and Rando wheatgrass, hollyhocks.
So far looks like the sunflowers and some of the wheatgrass came up so far and some holly hocks.
The other area o free seeded hasn't touched growth yet, but it's cold in that area yet, so I imagine most the seeds are sleeping yet or already picked doff by the ants and birds (if so I'll be reseeding it before long)
Tumblr media
Not my picture, got it from random Google search, I made seed pots similar to this though for uppotting and trying to seed start with.
I also got a little more gardne stuff rotated and moved round.
Tumblr media
The "L" bed is gone now. The unknown bed, sunchokes bed and squash pots all got filled up with the dirt from it as did the basil plant and the strawberry bed.
That wood by the unknown bed is from the "L" bed, just to protect the bed from the chickens picking young growth. I'm thinking I may place some louffsa to grow up the side. Though I'm not entirely sold on it yet lol.
Tumblr media
We had a visitor, I haven't seen this one before and not yet certain what kind they are but I think this one is a hawk. It's been awhile since we saw a predator bird (that wasn't the roadrunner).
Been going through some stuff I was given recently and found this
Tumblr media
And a few other neat designs in patterns, since there's most the material among this stuff I think I'll be making a few things as gifts and decor for gifts this year as part of our low buy goals of this year.
Just gotta get some yarn (I'll check out thrifts, yard sales, estate sales and some other venues before buying them new)
In the kitchen I've been working on reducing the kitchen waste again. When i get citrus I've been baking soda bathing them (15 minutes)
Drying, using a potato peeler and peeling off the skin to dry for tea. Juicing the fruit, I've been freezing the juice for later use. The remaining pith and flesh I've been dehydrating, grinding to a powder to use for cooking or herbal uses (at worst I figure it can be an extra source of vitamin c to be drank with some water.)
The peels are quite good in a bit of green tea.
I'm saving the seeds from the ones I find and intend to give a try to growing them. I don't expect much to be honest, but I think it'll be fun to try anyways.
Alright that's it for now.
🌱🌻Happy homesteading🌻🌱

Lemon Ginger Infused Honey | Clover’s Cookbook
Tumblr media
Hey everyone, it’s Clover here and this is the Lemon Ginger Honey Infusion!
Originally, this recipe was passed down to me through my mom who learned it from my paternal grandmother. We found around the time I was in third or fourth grade that over the counter medicine was starting to lose effect on me, so my grandma told my mom this recipe to see if it helps. And, to everyone’s relief, it did!
(Although, Mini Clover was not a fan of the taste originally—it’s grown on me immensely.)
My mom needed to tell me that it was “Magic Tea” to get me to drink it. And, after trying Theraflu a year or two later, I agreed that: “yes, it was magic because it was medicine that tasted better than anything else”. Now this infusion is my go-to cold cure.
(I also drank almost half of my batch that I made almost a year and a half ago when I was laid up in bed with the flu in March. That thing is very shelf-stable.)
Without any more preamble, here’s the recipe!
What you will need:
Tumblr media
An airtight container
Fresh Lemons, I usually use three or four but it depends on the size of the container.
Fresh Ginger, I usually use a handful of ginger root but it depends on the size of the container.
Honey
How to make it:
1. Rinse and slice the lemons and ginger
You can shred the ginger if you like, but I usually slice it up whenever I use it. Shredding ginger takes a lot of time that I personally do not have—and our grater is a pain to wash.
2. Layer the sliced ginger and lemon on top of each other in the airtight container, getting as close to the top as possible.
I use an empty instant coffee container, if you want ideas for it. It is a bit larger than I need, since I’m the only one in the house that drinks this infusion when I’m sick, but the trade off is that I know it’s airtight and there will be enough for at least a year. You can use mason jars or any other airtight containers you have on hand. The old instant coffee jar is just my suggestion.
3. After layering the lemon and ginger in the airtight container, add the honey. You want to fill the honey all the way to the top of the container if possible. If you can’t, at least so it covers the top layer of the lemon-ginger tower.
You will probably be using all the honey in the bottle, just so you know. When I first did this myself, I was unaware how much honey I needed and had to go out and buy another bottle because the container was bigger than expected. So just a heads up.
4. Seal the airtight container and let sit out overnight then place it in the fridge a month before use.
So I was unaware until recently that, for max potency and a proper infusion of the ingredients, you want your honey infusions to sit for a month before use. I just ended up getting super lucky the past few times I made it because I replenish my infusion when the house runs out, not when I need it right away. So my suggestion is make it in late July or Early August, that way it sits the month and you have it for cold and flu season.
5. Add to your preferred tea when sick and drink it throughout the day. For me, doing this kicks whatever is brewing in my system—and usually works in about a day for the few people I’ve given the infusion to. But take it as long as you think you need it, you’re the only one who knows your body.
Why this works:
Lemon:
Tumblr media
Lemon is high in vitamin C which helps boost the immune system and shorten the duration of colds.
Vitamin C is also helpful to lower your risk of heart disease and stroke (healthline.com), which aren’t important to this cold cure, but good to know anyway.
Hot Lemon Water is also good for sore throats and congestion in a 2008 study, as per medicalnewstoday.
Ginger:
Ginger is good for the gut as it helps settle stomachs, and the bitterness of the root kicks your digestive system into overdrive to clear out what the body considers to be possibly poison due to the taste (any Holistic Herbalism podcast episode where Ginger is involved).
Ginger’s anti inflammatory properties also help reduce pain and inflammation with a sore throat you usually get with a cold, as per this medicalnewstoday article (link here).
Ginger is also antiviral and antibacterial just like lemons are. So it helps get rid of any unwanted viruses or bacteria building up because of the cold, flu, etc.
Important note about ginger—if you or a loved one is on blood thinners don’t take ginger. Ginger’s chemical compounds will have a reaction with your blood thinners and make the blood super thin. This will cause excessive bleeding that is potentially life threatening.
Honey:
Tumblr media
Honey is a natural cough suppressant and throat-soother. It is also antimicrobial. A Harvard Health article (link here) indicated that honey works well for upper respiratory viruses (such as a cold) and some studies observed that taking honey shortened the duration of the cold in some participants.
Conclusion:
Tumblr media
Well that’s it! That’s my Lemon Ginger Honey Infusion that I have with my tea when I’m sick. My preference as a tea pairing with this concoction is usually Moroccan Mint, Peace of Mind Tea, or just normal green tea.
It depends on what we have in the house.
I usually pour it into the tea with the intent of helping me feel better soon as well. Just to add a boost of magick to an already great cold cure.
Have any of you tried this before? Do you have alternatives for this cold cure? If so, tell me!
Thank you all for reading and have a wonderful day!

I feel exhausted, for some reason. I felt exhausted yesterday and I feel exhausted today. I haven't drank any alcohol that would have negated my antidepressants. I also don't take my medicine while drinking orange juice or any other vitamin C drinks or food.
The only change in my diet is less sugar. I hope it's just my body revolting against that.

National Lemonade Day
National Lemonade Day is dedicated to the refreshing summer drink. Lemons and sugarcane are both native to India, so it is likely that the modern drink is derived from a drink Indians drank called nimbu pani. Traditional or cloudy lemonade is popular in the United States, and consists of lemons and a sweetener, usually sugar. Pink lemonade adds flavors such as raspberry, strawberry, or other fruits to the mix, and it is rumored it was invented by a man who accidentally dropped cinnamon candies into his lemonade. Another form of lemonade is clear lemonade, which is popular in the United Kingdom, and it is more like a soft drink. It is many times used with beer to make shandy, and as a base for mixed drinks. While lemonade can be healthy because of its vitamin C content, the high level of sweeteners that are used to make it tends to negate its health benefits.
How to Observe
Sit back, relax, and have some lemonade. There are various ways to make your own lemonade, and here is one idea. You could also check around your neighborhood for lemonade stands, as there is a pretty good chance that there will be many set up to celebrate the day. If you have children or grandchildren you could help them set up their own stand. Lemonade Day is a group not directly connected with National Lemonade Day, but they help to get kids involved in starting lemonade stands, with the goal of fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and teaching business acumen. This may be a good day to look into getting your community involved with their programs.

Tips to Prepare for Labral Repair & Hip Impingement Surgery
Hey Guys!
I wanted to share my tips for preparing for labral repair and hip impingement correction surgery. If you've read some of my prior posts you may have seen that when the surgeon went into my hip he actually did not find a tear; my tissue was perfectly intact.
So even though I didn't get the labral repair, my prepping for surgery tips remain the same because that is the surgery I was preparing for. Also, as far as recovery, I'm still following the same protocol as someone who did get a labral repair because I still underwent a surgery and I still got the extra bone growth shaved down to address the hip impingement.
Okay so here are my Surgery Prep Tips:
Enjoy Life :) I decided to get my surgery before the start of summer because that worked best with my work schedule, but I was sad about having to miss out on many summer activities. I love the summer. So I did as many fun things as I wanted to do before the surgery so I wouldn't feel as sad about what I would be having to miss during recovery.
WORKOUT! Surgeons call this pre-hab. Strengthening the muscles surrounding your hips and legs as best you can will only help you during recovery. The muscle memory will still be there when you start physical therapy and start walking properly be there. During my first two weeks of PT, my PT asked if I was athletic because I was able to do the exercises better than she expected I guess lol
Eat Healthy. A few months prior to surgery I tried to kick my health stuff up a notch. I've already been trying to be more intentional about what I am eating over the past few years anyway, but 2-3 months prior to surgery I was trying to revv up my Vitamin C and Vitamin D. I drank green juices a few times a week, took a multivitamin each day, tried to eat a proper serving of vegetables each day, lowered my alcohol intake (probably a month before surgery), and tried to drink enough water each day to make sure my body was hydrated going into surgery.
Create a Peaceful Recovery Space. I knew I was going to be in my room majority of the day for a few months. So I decluttered my space and re-organized and/or added things that would be peaceful to look at (ex. my plants & candles)
Put Important Things within Reach. All of the things I would need, I tried my best to put within reach of my bed. I received a "grabber" in my hip kit from the hospital to help me grab things within reach since I wasn't able to bend or twist much.
Consider a Mini-fridge & Microwave in Room. I live in a 2-story apartment with the kitchen on a different floor than my bedroom so a mini-fridge in my room was essential. In there I had a brita water pitcher, fruits, and other things I wanted to snack on.
Consider a Removable Shower Head. I had got one, but didn't use it because I tried to install it the night before and I couldn't get the old shower head off. And then when I went to shower after surgery I was able to do so with help from my mom so I just let the removable shower head go, but install it if you can because it would be really helpful.
Ask Surgical Team about Hip Kit. So the social work team at the hospital handled ordering items to help me with recovery such as a shower chair and a raised toilet seat. They also told me that I would receive a Hip Kit from the hospital the day of surgery. This Hip Kit is VERY important because it includes items to help you reach for things and put on your clothes and shoes since you aren't supposed to bend much. BUT when I was done with surgery they were saying goobye and I was like "wait where is my hip kit?" They were looking at me like HIP KIT?!?! So apparently someone didn't communicate with the OT department who was responsible for putting the kit together and they had to put it together last minute because I wasn't leaving without one. If they don't provide one, you can order one online.
Stock up on Gatorade and Meal Prep. The gatorade has a lot of electrolytes to help w/ recovery (they even had me drink one the morning of surgery). I had my mom to cook for me, but even she got tired of cooking lol. It would have been nice if I cooked as much as I could and froze the meals to have them ready to go.
Get Ice Packs. I had a small ice pack, but needed to order a bigger one during my first week of surgery to cover my thigh and hip at the same time.
Have Things to Do. You may get REALLY BORED. I definitely did. So I made sure to have things ready to keep me busy. Books to read, shows/movies to watch, games to play, etc etc.
I hope this is helpful and if you have anything to include from your experience or have any questions feel free to comment 😊😊😊

The best part of the day is before it began in the early morning where I got a little rest before being forced out of bed by an alarm half dead into the kitchen and from there the rest was just a nauseating blur. Guts completely on lock down, no emotions, all adrenaline, and urgency. By the end of it my eyes felt like they were going to fall out of my face and mouth was going to melt off. I got a short time not alone when I got back before needing to go out to the other family thing which was an absolute mind bending shit fest of trying to contain my internal screaming among the vultures for the rest of the precious hours of the little time I would have to myself on a weekend evening. Only there I am actually trying to not show a single emotion or hint of life for my own sake. The music was too loud so it also felt like I got out of a rock concert when I got out. I drank more coffee on top of the already now nearly 3 pots I had to not collapse on the side walk. It's almost midnight and I'll probably force myself to get into bed soon here because I just need to get to the next morning. Tomorrow is the day I got my dose of vitamin C down from 6 grams to 4 too to complete that experiment and see if it does the same thing in which I will need to prepare for one of the worst migraines of my life if it would which will take out the rest of my weekend. I don't know what I want to do tomorrow but I probably should go to the movies or something since this weekend was screwed from the second it began like past 3 months of them. But if I have huge migraine then I'm not going anywhere. Just don't know, there's no words to really describe a state of unrest like this. Can't think everything is just swimming in there.Body is practically jelly at this point. please sleep tonight, just shut down for once and recover something. Anything at all.

Small Jar, Big Results: Best Eye Creams That Actually Work
Tumblr media
If there's one place on your face that refuses to keep secrets, it's the under-eye area. The first fine line, that shadowy half-moon after a rough night, the puffiness that lingers after one too many salty snacks... yep, your eyes tell all.
I remember the first time I noticed my concealer wasn't sitting quite right. I blamed the lighting. Then I blamed the product. But nope, it was me. Or rather, it was my under-eyes begging for some serious TLC. That's when my obsession with eye creams truly began. I became that woman who reads the ingredients list like it's poetry and has a mini-fridge stocked with eye creams instead of snacks.
Skincare is personal but when it works, it's powerful. I've had mornings where a good eye cream made the difference between looking like I pulled an all-nighter and looking like I just got back from vacation. There's a certain satisfaction in dabbing on a cream that you know is doing its job like treating your face to a little spa break in the middle of chaos.
Eye creams, to me, are the skincare equivalent of a secret weapon. They're small but mighty, like that one friend who always has gum, tissues, and advice. They may not always look like much in their tiny jars and tubes, but give them a week and your reflection will thank you.
Over the years, I've tried them all. Some burned. Some did nothing. And a precious few made me look like I'd actually slept for eight hours, drank three liters of water, and had a facial. Those are the ones I'm sharing with you today. If you're into skincare deep dives like this, you might also want to check out my reviews on the best vitamin C serums, best shampoos for oily hair, and best dry shampoos.
if you want to read full of the reviews, you can check the best eye cream writings.

I Drank Wheatgrass Everyday For 30 Days And This is What Happened
They say one should choose to “eat and drink their skincare” rather than following a meticulous 15-step skincare regimen. So, I decided to drink wheatgrass every morning for 30 days. Wheatgrass is often deemed a “superfood,” packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants like chlorophyll, and vitamins A, C, and E, as well as iron, which help achieve clearer skin, boost immunity, improve digestion, and aid in overall well-being. But could this green juice really be a 180° shift in my everyday wellness game, or was it just another fad in the wellness space?
Tumblr media
Here is what happened when I religiously drank wheatgrass for a month:
First Week :
When I was about to take my first sip of wheatgrass, I was in high spirits. I thought that if celebrities and wellness gurus were religiously having it daily, surely I could stomach it for a month. But this couldn't be further from the truth. It tasted like someone had served me freshly mowed lawn grass. It was too grassy and bitter.
By day 3, the taste still made me question why I was choosing to have this drink. In order to make it easier on my taste buds, I decided to mix it with cold water and a squeeze of lemon. It seemed to help a little, but the strong grassy aftertaste was still too overpowering.
By day 5, I had started noticing small changes. I experienced better digestion, felt lighter throughout the day, and my gut seemed happy with me. However, I also started to feel slight headaches from the notorious “detox effect.”
Day 7 felt like a milestone. Drinking wheatgrass wasn’t the best part of my day, but it wasn’t the worst either. It simply became a key part of my daily morning ritual.
Second Week:
By the second week, I started noticing small changes. My skin was healing at a faster pace, breakouts stopped lasting forever, and acne spots began fading more quickly. I didn’t experience a drastic transformation or suddenly wake up with glass skin, but my complexion had started looking brighter and was more hydrated. I had made no changes to my usual skincare regimen. So, this made me wonder was the superfood wheatgrass really doing it’s so called “magic”.
One thing I did not see coming? Wheatgrass' ability to ease my cravings. I was no longer craving processed food items or sugary snacks. Somehow, my usual 5 PM cravings slowly started to subside. I was no longer wanting to reach for the over-processed snack in the pantry.
With healthier skin, better digestion, and curbed cravings, the second week also brought about the notorious “detox purge.” By the time day 10 came around, I started noticing tiny, pesky breakouts accompanied by slight headaches. I decided to power through this, and within a few days, the “detox purge” had calmed down.
Third Week:
By the third week, I had fully adjusted to drinking this green elixir. Each morning, you would not find me gagging while chugging it anymore, but it wasn’t something I particularly enjoyed drinking either. I had stopped giving much thought to its taste factor; it had become a key part of my everyday routine. During this time, I also started noticing several changes beyond better skin and digestion.
A major change that I noticed was my energy levels throughout the day. It wasn’t a caffeine-like energy boost with jitters. Instead, it was a sustained energy boost lasting the entire day. I had completely waved goodbye to my random midday afternoon crashes. My quality of sleep had leveled up. I always felt refreshed and well rested even on days when I was not able to get a full eight hours of sleep.
With the last week nearing, I was eagerly waiting to see if wheatgrass’s benefits would boost or if I had already experienced all the benefits wheatgrass could have given me.
Fourth Week:
The eagerly awaited final week of the wheatgrass challenge had arrived. Drinking this green juice had become a natural part of my routine. What during the first few days felt like an overpowering grassy drink had become a small part of my morning routine that had a big impact on how I would feel throughout the day.
By this point, the benefits that I had experienced during the early stages of taking wheatgrass had become stable rather than intensifying. My gut health and digestive health was on track, my skin continued to have that glow and be clear, and my energy levels remained stable. The subtle changes I had experienced when I first started taking this green juice were maintained.
While I did enjoy noticing the various benefits wheatgrass gave me, one big question that posed was: Was wheatgrass really a magic potion for health? And if I’m being honest, while it did contribute to healthier physical and mental health for me, wheatgrass is not some one size fits all magic juice for health. It was able to provide me with these numerous benefits alongside an overall healthy lifestyle.
As I had reached the end of my 30-day wheatgrass challenge, I had to ask, will I continue drinking this superfood daily? The answer is probably not. The grassy taste is far from enjoyable, and I feel like similar results can be achieved from a healthy and balanced diet and lifestyle. Although I wouldn’t be dismissing having wheatgrass always and will consume it on the days I feel like I need it.
If this challenge has taught me anything it is that health is not achieved by quick fixes but by consistency and long term commitment to one’s health.

This is getting rly old, but body: sore. I didn't go to the studio today (no class bc winter break), instead j went for a little over 1h walk. This was my first rest day in a month. Idk how i feel abt it.
I didn't get 15k tho 😔 i could've easily but i decided to be lazy and stay in bed watching a movie instead. (Which was v nice, no complaints, but yk ana doesn't like to let me enjoy things.) It was like a movie date night :3 (j guys being bros, talking abt fucking cars and so on). I had one of my fave "treats" for a movie snack: raisins and quark. I was forced to buy a diff brand than usual bc there's still some shortages due to the strikes :p
Also my bananas r so perfect rn. Gotta freeze them asap. If u eat bananas before they look like that then we can't be friends. I will die on this hill.
I drank the coke only bc i needed energy, i was out of celsius and redbull... it made me nauseous
